Teachers who have specialized degrees in their field of study are better able to impart their passion for each subject and employ dynamic approaches and cutting-edge technology to their teaching methodology.
While Specialists are teaching their subjects, classroom teachers have the opportunity to meet with their principals more regularly, form collaborative teams to review student work, plan instruction, and create curricula that are consistent across grade levels and vertically aligned. 
SCIENCE
- Specialists provide hands-on experiences through innovative, engaging labs where students experience the work of real-world scientists using the scientific method.
SPANISH
- Research has shown that learning a second language leads to more advanced reading skills, and students perform much better than their monolingual peers on many standardized tests, including all sections of the SAT.
ART
- Students are exposed to and participate in many aspects of the arts through class content and a wide variety of electives that provide an in-depth experience in their chosen area of art.
ATHLETICS
- The after-school athletics program is supported by a team of Athletic Directors and Coaches and is open to all students in grades 5-8 for:
- Boys’ and Girls’ Basketball, Flag Football, Golf, Cross Country, Track & Field, Boys’ and Girls’ Soccer, Tennis, Boys’ and Girls’ Volleyball and Wrestling.
- A no-cut policy ensures all eligible students can participate.
MATH
- The goal of our math specialist is to provide differentiated instruction, allowing teachers to individualize each child’s learning experience and directly teach to each child’s needs.
- Emphasis will be on level appropriate placement and support for students in enrichment or intervention.
MUSIC
- Our music specialist employs the Orff Schulwerk approach to music education which focuses on putting the child in charge of his/her music making, from singing to accompaniment, improvisation and literacy.
