School Counselor
Welcome to Mrs. B’s counseling page!
I am the school counselor for all of R. Roger Rowe School. I have the joy of working with students through classroom lessons, small group counseling, and individual counseling. I also collaborate with school staff and parents in order to best meet the needs of students.
Classroom Lessons
I visit each classroom multiple times throughout the school year and have the chance to interact with every student during these lessons. Lessons typically last 30 minutes in length and cover topics such as school readiness skills, character education (gratitude, empathy, courage, perseverance, etc.), problem solving skills, and friendship skills.
Small Group Counseling
A variety of small groups are offered to students who may benefit from spending some extra time developing academic, social, or emotional skills along with their peers, and to students who are coping with similar life situations. Groups can have anywhere from 3-8 members and usually meet once a week for 6-8 weeks (depending on the topic and needs of the group).
Individual Counseling
Some students can benefit from one-on-one counseling, regarding academic, social, or emotional challenges. These meetings also typically last between 6-8 weeks and occur once a week. If the student needs continued support after that time, the recommendation is for parents to seek help from a licensed therapist or other mental health provider.

Upcoming Parent Events
We are working on scheduling a “Meet the Counselor” for parents, and I hope to offer “Coffee with the Counselor” for K-5, and “Parent Universities” for 6-8, on various topics throughout the school year!
